Velasquez vs Dos Santos 3
This is for the upcoming UFC ppv on October 19th, the greatest heavyweight trilogy in combat sports since Ali/Frazier. Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez vs Former Champ Junior Dos Santos. Let me start by saying these are truly the 2 best Heavyweight fighters of all time. If you combined their record it's 28-3 with 22 knockouts. Here's the kicker, out of their combined 3 losses, 2 of them are from eachother. Dos Santos won their first fight in 2011 by first round knockout and Velasquez won the 2nd fight by 5 round unanimous decision in dominating fashion. Velasquez has knocked out former champs and top contenders Brock Lesnar, Antonio Silva, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria and Ben Rothwell. While Junior has defeated Mark Hunt, Frank Mir, Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson. Basically every heavyweight contender to fight these 2 gets knocked out. Other then fighting skills the thing about these two are the huge fan bases they have. Junior Dos Santos was born in Cacador Brazil and started training at a free gym in a poor area and rose to what he is today, so basically he has a whole country behind him. What Derek Jeter is to new york, dos santos is to all of Brazil. Cain on the other hand has the entire mexican community supporting him. This fight alone is worth the price of admission. But they stacked this card. Here is the full card.
Heavyweight Championship (C) Cain Velasquez 12-1 vs Junior Dos Santos 16-2
Heavyweight Fight: Daniel Cormier 12-0 vs Roy Nelson 19-8
Lightweight fight: Gilbert Melendez 21-3 vs Diego Sanchez 24-5
Heavyweight fight: Gabriel Gonzaga 15-7 vs Shawn Jordan 15-4
Flyweight fight: John Dodson 14-6 vs Darrell Montague 13-2
Out of the 10 fighters on the maincard 4 are former/current champions in Cain, Junior, Daniel Cormier and Gilbert Melendez. While Diego Sanchez, Gabriel Gonzaga and John Dodson all fought for a title in the past.
